OUR GOALS

Connect people to Hood Pond's diverse and beautiful watershed

Conduct fund raising, public outreach, and educational activities in order to maintain and enhance the environmental, recreational, and scenic beauty of Hood Pond.

Share photos, artwork, and fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, skating and XC skiing stories.

Eliminate invasive plant species

Learn to recognize non-native plants and how to manage them.

Encourage people to clean and dry boats of foreign plant material and to dispose of it properly.

Work with private and state agencies to administer targeted herbicides for some invasive plants and to harvest others by hand.

Create spawning habitat for the reintroduction of alewife

Work with Ipswich River Watershed Association, Trout Unlimited and others to restore the alewife/herring population.

Reduce harmful human impact

Properly maintain septic systems, limit or discontinue the use of fertilizers and other household chemicals.

Encourage "carry in/carry out".
